In the morning of 7th September, 2010, Mme. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, President of the VWU warmly welcomed Ms. Lotta Sylwander- Representative of UNICEF in Vietnam on the occasion of her new position.

 Ms. Lotta Sylwander is from Sweden and was UNICEF’s representative in Zambia since April, 2006. She officially began her new role as UNICEF representative in Vietnam in mid - August, 2010.

At the meeting, President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa provided Ms. Lotta with information on the programs and activities that VWU has and is carrying out to ensure women’s and children’s rights as well as VWU’s contributions to the cause for enhancing women’s roles and improving gender equality in the society.

Ms. Sylwander showed special interest in VWU’s activities for women’s and children’s protection and expressed her wish to cooperate with VWU in this field. Furthermore, she paid attention to the activities for gender equality in Vietnam and was willing to share with the VWU her experience in activities for enhancing gender equality in Sweden – one of the world’s leading countries in this field.
