A splendid future for Women football

12/02/2009
Woman football is now developing all around the world. We also have World cup for woman football, and it soon becomes an interesting sport event. Although Vietnamese woman football has not really found its own position, our football players have brought us many exciting and interesting moments. With the bronze medal at 19 SEA Games, many people have known Kim Hong, Hien Luong and other female football players in Vietnam.

It can be easily seen that Vietnam has not invested enough in woman football. Many football players in Vietnam live a very hard life. Whenever they finish a competition, all of them must do their best to earn a living. For example, Ms Ngoc Mai- the captain works at a gas station to support her family; or My Oanh, the striker, and the goalkeeper- Ms Kim Hong- sell bread everyday. Ms Kim Hong said: " If our selling is well, we can finish at 8 or 9 pm, but if not we must work till midnight". Also, there are some football players used to work for a company, then they were fired after participating in a competition.Very few people are luckier such as Ms Dieu Sinh, she is a third year student at the Open University. But the love for football has helped them to overcome all those difficulties. Let' s listen to Ms Dieu Sinh: " I play football for love only, so that I can stand hardships, I can put up with a loss, I can practise all strenuous lessons, which are as hard as man football lessons." All of them thank football very much for bringing them the feeling of rejuvenating, cheerfulness and health. While the male football team is taken care and invested very well, the woman team has not received much care from the government as well as the Vietnam's Ministry of Sports. My Oanh said: "I am very unhappy that male players have their own clubs to return after a competition but we don't. I hope that in the future, Vietnamese woman football will be considered as a job, so that we can have better conditions for practicing to get good results for our country- Vietnam". That is also other players' wish. And according to Mr. Petty Alaja-the general secretary of Finnish Football Federation- in a journey to Vietnam visiting and studying Vietnamese football (This is a program of FIFA and AFC): "Vietnamese woman football has taken part in SEA Games, ASIAD and next, the Asian championship in the Philippines. You have got the bronze medal at 19th SEA Games. You have already had woman football movements. But you must go on consolidating and developing those movements in spite of difficulties. Remember that football is not only for men."
