Awareness raising and support for returning female migrants and their families to reintegrate into community

"Peaceful return" is the topic of a series of communication activities conducted recently by the OSSO under Hai Phong Women's Union. They aim at raising awareness on supporting women migrants' and their families' sustainable community reintegration.

On 10th and 11th July, the Hai Phong OSSO (One-Stop-Service-Office) under Hai Phong Women's Union organized 2 communication events on supporting repatriating women migrants and their families in Dai Hop and Tan Phong communes of Kien Thuy district. They were attended by over 200 women including WU staff, WU members, repatriating women migrants and their families in the district.

At the events, the OSSO counselors and a leader of the Justice Office (Kien Thuy district) through games, crossword puzzles and information sessions have introduced to the local people the OSSO activities and migration issues. Specifically situation of returning women migrants in the locality, safe migration, domestic violence prevention, knowledge and skills for community reintegration of repatriating women migrants and their families, positive thinking for life change, support by the authorities and community for the sustainable reintegration of returning women migrants and their families, etc.

"Each attendant here is expected to act as a communicator and an active collaborator, who works closely with the Hai Phong OSSO and other agencies to support repatriating women migrants with necessary conditions for their sustainable community integration. I hope that every returning female migrant will make her best efforts to live a better life", Vice President of Hai Phong Women's Union Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Hai said.

At the event, the staff of Hai Phong OSSO, Kien Thuy Justice Office, and local Women's Unions held consultation sessions for repatriating women migrants and their families, especially those who are facing difficulties in the reintegration process.

After that, returning women migrants and their families were invited to visit Hai Phong OSSO and Hai Phong Aeon Mall, which was a joyful and inspiring trip for them to refresh themselves. As planned, the series of communication activities "Peaceful return" is to be held in other districts in Hai Phong city through July 2021.
