Being kind to environment is kind to yourself and others

In response to the Clean Up the World 2020 campaign with the theme - "Every small action makes a world of difference", on the morning of September 20, 2020, the online media event called "Kind to environment" organized by the Central Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) through live reporting on its fan page and e-newspaper has attracted numerous attendances.

At the event, VWU President Ha Thi Nga called on members, women, organizations, and individuals to protect the environment from practical daily actions with the message "Being kind to environment is kind to yourself and others”.

In response to the Clean Up the World 2020 campaign and the event "Kind to environment", the WUs at all levels have actively implemented many practical activities and sent to the event more than 200 video clips and vivid images of the women’s protecting the environment nationwide including cleaning up polluted areas such as markets, garbage areas, schools, canals; collecting packages of plant protection chemicals after using; reducing and recycling plastic waste; planting trees; waste classification; etc..

The event also shared stories of women participating in environmental protection and anti-plastic waste, maintaining the hygiene of village roads, lanes, etc ....

Through the game "Recycling is so simple!" making colorful lanterns by using disposable plastic, VWU President Ha Thi Nga expressed that "It's so creative and meaningful that we can turn seemingly useless things to become very interesting and attractive toys like this, especially in the Mid-Autumn Festival for children”.

Lots of positive influencers in society also sent inspiring messages on environmental protection to the event and are encouraged and positively responded by all participants.

With its responsibilities, over the past years, VWU has cooperated with ministries, agencies and localities to encourage members and women to actively participate in environmental protection with practical and effective activities, especially through“Building the family with 5 Without-s and 3 Clean-s” campaign, including the effective environmental criteria of "Clean house, kitchen and surrounding lanes". Since 2018, VWU has implemented the "Anti-plastic waste" plan with a commitment and determination to say “no” to disposable plastic products in all VWU's system, firstly starting with the reduction in consumption of non-biodegradable plastic products and plastic bags, especially disposable plastic products.
