Culture exchanges with Asia – Pacific countries

The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a culture exchange named “Meeting the Fall Culture” on September 22. Attending this event were Ambassadors’ wives and embassies’ female staffs from 24 countries which were members of Asia – Pacific Women’s Union in Japan.

Within the scope of the exchange, the guests enjoyed an unique Vietnamese traditional Fashion Show of Ao dai (Vietnamese costume) and Ethnic Clothes performed by female staffand the Vietnamese Ambassador’s spouse; Artists from Ho Chi Minh City played Dan bau (monochord), Dan Tranh (16-chord zither) and T’rungand performed folk dance and folk-songs.

 

After watching the Art performance, guests were invited to taste a number of authentic Vietnamese traditional dishes such as Nem (spring rolls), green bean cake, lotus seeds compote dissert. The participants were also attracted by the miniature Vietnamese cultural space with palm-leaf conical hats, lacquer paintings and fine-art handicraft products of Vietnam displayed outside the reception-room.

 

Vietnamese Ambassador’s wife in Japan Le Thieu Ngan said that the goal of Asia – Pacific Women’s Union was to organize friendly exchange activities to raise the mutual understanding among the women from the member countries. The Union’s annual biggest-scale activity was to organize a bazaar. All the money collected would be used for charity in the member countries, especially the poor o­nes.

 

Asia – Pacific Women’s Union gave Vietnam 8500 USD to do charity. The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan has sent the donation to “Golden Heart” Fund of the Labor Newspaper to support the construction of a boarding-school for the ethnic pupils in Nghe An province./.
