Disadvantaged children enjoyed happiness and smiles during the mid-autumn festival

Following previous note-worthy events two years ago, GE movie night 2009 particularly for underprivileged children took place in Hanoi on September 25 and in Ho Chi Minh City on September 26.

This is part of a series of social programs implemented by General Electric (GE) further concretizing GE’s long-term commitments to involve unfortunate children in annual communal events.

Acclaimed as an annual uplifting event, this year’s night is focused on children from the two child-nurturing centers of Ha Cau Orphanage in Hanoi and Binh Loi Orphanage in HCMC.

The children, GE Vietnam staff, and their families together shared a cozy night and enjoyed a great movie at Megastar. The screening was a movie called “Universal’s Tale of Desperaux”, a 3D animated movie, which told children a story about a little, courageous and adorable Rat named Despereaux that was produced by Universal Pictures under NBC Universal Media and Entertainment Enterprise, a component of GE Group.

The night allowed the children to feel the love, warmth and care that GE in particular and society as a whole reserve for children who are less fortunate than their friends of the same age.

“This-year event was held on the occasion of the forth-coming mid-autumn festival, eagerly awaited by every child. The show will be a small gift presented by GE, coupled with GE’s wishes and hope that they will kickoff a new school year with fresh joy, tremendous determination and motivation to overcome every obstacle in life all for a brighter future”, said Ms. My Lan, President of GE in Vietnam.

With commitment and a tradition of communal activities in local communities where the group operates, GE simultaneously takes great efforts to concretize their commitments, driven by numerous CSR programs, among which GE movie night is proof of those on-going commitments and goodwill.
