Gender equality sharing

That was one of the important contents of the meeting between Member of the Party Central Committee, VWU President Ha Thi Nga and Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari on the morning of June 23.

At the meeting, VWU President shared about the women’s status and gender equality in Vietnam, especially the percentage of female National Assembly deputies in this term is 30.26%. Mrs. Nga also introduced about the Vietnam Women’s Union and its role on promoting women’s development and gender equality in Vietnam.

Mrs. Ha Thi Nga shared the same concern with the Embassy about the Covid-19 epidemic that Iran as well as Vietnam are facing and hoped that the epidemic will be controlled soon when vaccine is more available. She sincerely thanked the Ambassador for having enthusiastically supported and attended the VWU's activities as well as shared information with VWU about Iranian agencies and organizations in charge of women and family issues. She also asked the Embassy to help connect the VWU with Iranian partners on women and gender equality in the coming time.

In response, the Ambassador of Iran Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari highly appreciated Vietnam's Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control, the Vietnamese women’s contribution to social life as well as the VWU’s activities over the past time. The Ambassador also shared information on gender equality in Iran. The Vice Presidency for women and family affairs takes care of all activities to support women's empowerment, vocational training and jobs creation for women. The Ambassador also mentioned the successes of Iranian women in politics, science, research, etc.

The Ambassador committed that the embassy would connect and facilitate the exchanges between the VWU and Iranian agencies in charge of women issues. He also recommended a webinar between the VWU and Ms. Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President of Iran in charge of women and family affairs to discuss women’s response to COVID-19 epidemic in the two countries.

Mrs. Nga welcomed the Ambassador's recommendation of the webinar in the context of Covid-19, considering it a good opportunity for women of the two countries to promote their understanding of each other and explore cooperation possibilities in the future.
