Singapore supports Vietnam Women Union in staff training

Recently the Vietnam Women’s Union President Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa had a meeting with Mr. Gerald Yeo, President of the Temasek Treasury Singapore and Mr Wu Wei, Director of the Administration Department of Nanyang University of Technologies.

Temasek Treasury Singapore is a non-profit organisation, established in 2007 by Temasek Holding to support different communities in Asia. Over the past 5 years, it has supported 139 programs in 17 countries, which benefited 23,000 people. In 2012, in cooperation with Program 165 of the Vietnamese Government, the Treasury financed Nanyang University to provide training for 100 high-ranking staff of Vietnam in 4 short courses.

In this meeting, the two sides discussed o­n cooperation potentials related to VWU’s key staff capacity building.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa highly appreciated Temasek and Nanyang University for their supports to train VWU key staff. The 11th National Women Congress resolution highlighted capacity building for WU staff at all levels as o­ne of 3 breakthroughs of the Union in the 11th term. Specifically for capacity building, VWU focuses o­n such skills as policy advocacy; needs assessment; organization and implementation; monitoring and evaluation, etc.

Mr. Gerald Yeo confirmed Temasek’s intent to cooperate with the VWU and emphasized that through training courses, both Vietnamese trainees and Singaporean trainers could learn from each other.
