HA NOI — Viet Nam would like to co-operate with the UK to address the challenges of poverty alleviation and climate change, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Speaking with Minister of State for the UK Department for International Development Alan Duncan in the capital city yesterday, Nhan said he was delighted at various aspects of Viet Nam-UK relations, especially in education, economy, trade and investment.

He said that the UK was a unique nation which had pledged to grant official development assistance to Viet Nam for 10 consecutive years (2005-15).

"This demonstrates UK interest in Viet Nam," said Nhan.

During talks, Nhan also welcomed Duncan to Viet Nam to attend a high-level tripartite conference on the UN's Delivering as one initiative.

In reply, Duncan agreed with Nhan about the fruitful development of the two sides' relations.

He said the UK Government would continue to support Viet Nam in education and training, investment, climate change response and cultural exchanges in the future.
