Vietnam actress to study at top US arts school

Film star Hong Anh will begin a three-week acting course in the US on July 15 at the invitation of the John F. Kennedy Centre for Performing Acts.

Anh, who won the first ever prize by a Vietnamese actress in an international film festival when she was named Best Actress at the Dubai International Film Festival last year, will attend classes and workshops in Washington DC and California.

She will also meet artists from the US, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Malaysia and Pakistan and visit popular local theatres.

Nguyen Thi Hoa from the Le Quy Duong Arts Centre will attend course for directors and playwrights.

They will be joined by choreographer Pham Ngoc Hien from ABC Entertainment Company who will attend a class o­n hip-hop dance and pianist Pham Nguyen Anh Vu from the HCM City Conservatoire.

For the first time, Vietnam has four artists going to the Kennedy Centre, which has invited 44 emerging performing artists from selected countries for courses in classical music, modern dance, hip-hop dance, technical theatre, acting, and direction and playwriting.
