  • ASEAN fund helps to end poverty elimination.

    In the morning of February 12th 2009 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the cooperation of ASEAN Fund, organized a workshop on ASEAN Fund and Solidarity Fund-Japan, with an aim to provide information and guidelines on making proposals for projects to be funding in ASEAN to improve the effectiveness and quality of making proposals and the implementation of cooperative projects in the Initiatives for ASEAN Integration.

    In the after noon of the new year event December 30th , 2008, the central of Vietnam Women’s Union organized a ceremony to confer the Merit Medal “For the Development of Women in Vietnam” to Mr. Ian Howie, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFP) Representative in Vietnam.

  • VWU transfers 1st batch of signing books responding “Say NO to violence against women” to UNIFEM Hanoi

    In the morning of November 14, 2008, at the United Nations Development Fund for Women’s (UNIFEM) office in Hanoi, Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) handed books of about 600,000 signatures (1st stage) of staff, members, women and the people from over 40 provinces/cities nationwide responding UNIFEM’s campaign “Say NO to violence against women” to UNIFEM.

    Violence against women is a global pandemic, in fact 1 in 3 women will experience an incident of violence in their life time would firstly like to congratulate Madame Hoa and the Vietnam Women’s Union for partnering with UNIFEM on this very important campaign. The Vietnam Women’s Union has enormous ability to reach large numbers of women across all sections of society and geographic locations.
  • Culture exchanges with Asia – Pacific countries

    The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a culture exchange named “Meeting the Fall Culture” on September 22. Attending this event were Ambassadors’ wives and embassies’ female staffs from 24 countries which were members of Asia – Pacific Women’s Union in Japan.

  • A Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union visited Europe

    At the invitation of the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation of Germany (SBFIC) and the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), a delegation headed by Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Kim Thuý – Vice President of VWU visited and had meetings in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium from 2 – 14 June 2008.

    At the invitation of the President of Korea’s Women Invention Association (KWIA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mme Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women’s Union headed the Vietnamese women delegation (4 delegates including 2 successful women entrepreneurs) to attend the Korean-International Women Inventors’ Forum in Seoul, Korea on 6th – 11th May, 2008.

  • Global women’s summit opens in Hanoi today

    About 1,000 female entrepreneurs and politicians are set to attend the 2008 Global Summit of Women from June 5-7 in Hanoi.

    Global Summit of Women is an international forum to connect female entrepreneurs, experts, government leaders from all countries over the world, for the establishment of a global women coalition in order to share the best practices, successful business strategies, to deal with the problems that women are facing with in their business, to raise the role of women not only in business but also in all political-social activities.

  • Women delegates from Vientiane, Laos visit the Vietnam Women’s Union

    While visiting and working with the Hanoi Women’s Union, on the afternoon of 23rd August, the delegation of the Vientiane Women’s Union, headed by Mme. Bualon Vong Dalaxen, President of the Vientiane Women’s Union, visited the Vietnam Women’s Union. The delegation was received by Mme. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
  • Oxfam donates $200,000 to aid flood victims of Typhoon No 2

    Some 30,000 villagers of Ha Tinh Province in communes hardest hit by Typhoon No 2 earlier this month will benefit from a new humanitarian project run by international aid agency Oxfam that began yesterday.
