On April 22, the Ministry of Education and Training organized a signing ceremony of emulation movement “Building friendly schools and active students” for the period of 2009 – 2013 in coordination with the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Learning Promotion Association. Taking part in this ceremony are representatives of the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) founded in 1930 is a socio-political organization which is mandated to protect the legal rights and legitimate interests of women in Vietnam. In the history of its development, particularly since DOI MOI (Renovation), VWU has taken various measures such as vocational training, loans providing, awareness raising, and technical transferring, ect. to help women in poverty alleviation for their livelihood improvement and social status enhancement. To realize its missions, besides internal resources, VWU also mobilized and made use of international support from donors (GOs and NGOs) including Marie Schlei Association (Germany).
On April 21, 2009, the Vice President of Vietnam Women’s Union, Hoang Thi Ai Nhien, warmly received the delegation of the RCD Party of Tunisia headed by Mme. Hager Chérif Chebil, the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Foreign Affairs, on their working visit to VWU.
From April 14-19, 2009, a VWU delegation headed by Mrs. H’Ngam Nie KDam, VWU Vice President, and 16 members (including representatives from VWU departments/agencies and some centres for International marriages Supporting and Counseling) paid a study visit to some provinces of Korea.
