2006 Review Conference on entrusted loans disbursement for poor households and beneficiaries

In the morning 2nd February, the 2006 Review Conference on disbursement of entrusted loans for poor household and beneficiaries was organized at the VWU’s Headquarter. VWU’s Vice President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, member of Central Committee of the Party, Vice President Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, General Director of Social Policy Bank Ha Thi Hanh, Deputy General Director of Social Policy Bank Nguyen Van Tan, as well as staff of VWU and Social Policy Bank attended the meeting

Addressing at the conference, Mme Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa reported results of the disbursement of entrusted loans and the management of the National Fund for Employment Creation.

In 2006, the Central VWU provided close and timely guidance on disbursement of entrusted loans. Besides giving direction for WU at all levels to effectively manage the entrusted loans and the loans from the National Fund for Employment Creation , VWU has planned to support entrusted loans for poverty reduction pilots of WU’s provinces/cities in order to promote and enhance the effect of these models. In 2006, Central VWU sent 20 monitoring missions on field to4 provinces/cities, 70 districts and 85 communities.

With the consistent efforts, the total entrusted loans disbursed by of theCentral VWU in 2006 increased over 2,000 billion VND compared to that in 2005, the ratio of delinquency decreases in low level: 1.43% (decreased 0.54% compared to the same period last year). Notably, in Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Ha Tay, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Phu Yen… there is no longer delinquencies though they have been facing difficulties.

At the conference, Ms Ha Thi Hanh, General Director of Social and Political Bank highly appreciated VWU’s efforts in conducting entrusted loan services and disbursing loans from the National Fund for Employment Creation Responding critical questions raised by VWU’s carders in the recent monitoring trip, Ms Hanh emphasized, that so far, VWU has been thelargest partner in disbursing entrusted loans of Social and Political Bank. (8,000 billion VND out of 19,000 Billion VND) and the most effective partner in dealing with bad loans. Ms Hanh hoped that VWU in the year to come, would continue its strength to implement well the contract on disbursement of entrusted loans, that has been signed by the two sides.
