Activities of Thanh Hoa Women’s Union

* The women of Bim Son help each other to develop household economics

During the 1^st half of 2006, the Women’s Union of Bim Son town, in coordination with the Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development, set up saving and credit women’s groups and checked for poor households who have needs for funding to run a business and develop economy. At the same time, the WU and Farmer’s Union signed with the Social and Policy Bank o­n the lending of 500 million VND to 3/5 communes, quarters.

Many families who were provided with loans have developed farming economies and have had an increase in their annual income from 40 million VND to 50 million VND. The WU also encourages women to help each other o­n working days, rice seeds and fertilizer… ensuring 100% of transplanting areas.

* Thanh Hoa WU: 85 families of WU’s members escape from poverty thanks to loan funds

In order to provide funds to poor households to buy crop varieties and animals, Thanh Hoa WU has mobilized and done the collateral with the Bank to lend an amount of 3 billion VND for 6,517 turns of borrowers. 1,364 poor households headed by women received the loan from different sources, such as: fund of the Social and Policy Bank, fund of “saving day for poor women”, fund of WU.... Together with creation of o­n-site loan funds, WU has also got loans of 6.1 billion VND from the Social and Policy Bank for 1,262 turns of borrowers. Thanks to these funds, 85 poor households have escaped from poverty.
