VietNamNet Bridge – Two Vietnamese contestants at the Mrs. World 2010 in Ba Ria – Vung Tau this November will wear reformed ao dai featuring lotus and crane, said designer Ngo Nhat Huy.

Huy said he was completing the two special ao dai for Mrs. Vietnam 2009 Hoang Thi Yen and the first runner-up Nguyen Thi Thu Ha. The two Vietnamese representatives will wear these ao dai in the traditional costume competition.

Huy was asked to design two ao dai with traditional and luxurious beauty. “Some suggested designing the two ao dai based on the image of Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters), national heroines of Vietnam. But finally I chose pink lotus and crane,” Huy explained.

The lotus pink ao dai is for Mrs. Vietnam Hoang Thi Yen. This ao dai is made of lotus petals while its laps are embroidered with lotuses and comes with a lotus-shaped palm-leaf conical hat.

First runner-up Thu Ha will wear a yellow ao dai featuring a crane and a feather hat. The rear lap is also decorated by feathers.

“Being reformed a little, I hope that the two ao dai will be very splendid like western evening gowns,” Huy said.

Ngo Nhat Huy is also the ao dai supplier for all contestants of Mrs. World 2009 on opening night.

Designer Lan Huong provides costumes for all contestants in other activities of the pageant.
