Campaign to stem trafficking of women, children

The women’s union of the southern province of An Giang joined with two women’s unions from Cambodia to launch an educational campaign to combat trafficking in women and children on August 12.

On the Cambodian side are women’s unions from Ta Keo and Can Dal provinces.

An Giang province has, since last year, discovered 11 cases of trafficking and received 11 women victims from Cambodian and Malaysian police.

The province has identified 191 women and children as victims of human trafficking and about 50 people were investigated for involvement over many years.

Officials of the unions pledged to cooperate closely in improving public awareness of the fight against trafficking in women and children.
