Chilean President expresses admiration to Vietnamese women

Chilean President expressed her admiration to the Vietnamese women for their great contributions and the sacrifices they have made when she met around 400 local woman leaders at the Centre for Women and Development in Hanoi on Nov. 18.

President Michelle Bachelet Jeria also praised Vietnamese women's marked contributions to national construction and development.


Ha Thi Khiet, President of the Vietnam Women's Union and President of the National Committee for the Advancement of Vietnamese Women, affirmed that even though Viet Nam and Chile are geographically far apart, the Vietnamese and Chilean women have a close relationship.


The same day, the Chilean President visited the Hanoi People's Committee and presented a sculpture work called "tai gap" (Seeing again) - a gift from the Chilean government - to Hanoi.


The stone sculpture work by Jose Vicente Gajardo was seen as a symbol of the meeting between the two countries and peoples.


President Bachelet Jeria also visited Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi.
