Conferring VWU Merit Medal to KOICA Country Director

On January 13, Madam Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) - presented the Merit Medal for the Development of Vietnamese Women to Mr. Kim Jinoh - Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam to recognize his contribution to the equality and development of Vietnamese women.

At the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha emphasized that during his term in Vietnam (2017 - 2020), Mr. Kim Jinoh had actively and effectively contributed to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. Under his leadership, KOICA Vietnam has had strengthened cooperation with VWU in a more substantial and strategical manner.

KOICA currently supports the VWU through 2 projects namely “Capacity building on gender equality, women empowerment and women and girls protection” (2019 - 2021) which includes training courses for staff of VWU and relevant institutions on gender equality and women’s empowerment, and “Strengthening Vietnamese Capacity for Sustainable Reintegration of Returning Women Migrants and their Households in Vietnam”. The latter is to be implemented in 5 provinces/cities of Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hanoi, Can Tho and Hau Giang from 2019 to 2021. The project aims to support sustainable socio-economic reintegration for returning Vietnamese women married to Korean and female migrant workers.
