A traditional Chinese cake, often made on the occasion of the Duanwu Festival on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, the main ingredient is glutinous rice. The filling, depending on the taste of each region, can be peanuts, red dates, green beans or meat. The cake is wrapped in bamboo leaves and then boiled.

On the occasion of the Duanwu Festival, parents will tie five-colored threads on the wrists and ankles of their children to ward off bad luck and pray for peace and health.

Right after the first rain after the Duanwu Festival, the five-coloured thread will be thrown into the river so that the river water will wash away all the bad things, so that everything will go smoothly and successfully all year.

The programme is not only a cultural connection between the two countries in the Viet Nam-China Cultural Exchange Year 2025, but also an opportunity for the Vietnamese community and the people of Beijing, especially children, to exchange and learn about the unique traditional cultures of the two countries.
