Int’l Women World Fair opens

The week-long International Women World Fair 2006 was opened yesterday in Ha Noi with the attendance of domestic female-run enterprises, embassies and NGOs working on gender equality and for women’s advancement in Viet Nam.

The fair, entitled "World of Women - For the advancement of Vietnamese women", has been organised to welcome the 11th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Women Leaders Networks Meeting in Viet Nam from September 19-22, 2006.

Sending a congratulatory letter to the ceremony, State Vice President Truong My Hoa said that the fair was an effective operation to hasten the cause for the development of Vietnamese women.

She said it was the opportunity for women to review their achievements, through which individuals and enterprises who gained remarkable accomplishments should be selected and honoured.

Also at the ceremony, the organisers handed the Mai vang (Golden Apricot Blossom) award to 14 individuals, eight enterprises and 10 products.

The fair gathered 13 nations and international organisations together with more than 100 Vietnamese and foreign enterprises.
