Long An: Nearly 32,000 women were supported with loans for production

In 2006, women's union at all levels in Long An province mobilized and managed VND 160 billion and supported nearly 32,000 households with loans for production.

The provincial women's union was invested by the Central Women's Union to implement the project: "Reproducing farmers' poultry" for 510 peasant households with 69,400 fowls; constructing lakes, bathrooms and sanitary toilets for 328 women - headed households in Dong Thap Muoi's communes.


From the effectiveness of the loans provided to members for economic development, Long An Women's union continues establishing economic cooperation groups, women enterprise clubs; developing and improving the effectiveness of savings-credit groups and poverty alleviation activities such as providing women householders with loans, vocational training, essential knowledge and skills for poverty alleviation, anti re-poverty in community.


The provincial WU has established a model of women-owned small enterprises, created local employment for women, maintained and developed local traditional vocations.


99.21% of the province's women householders have accessed to loans for family economic development, contributing to job creation for rural women.
