Miss Tourism Vietnam 2008 crowned

Phan Thi Ngoc Diem beat 35 contestants to become the new Miss Tourism Vietnam at the pageant’s finale held Saturday at Ho Chi Minh City’s Phan Dinh Phung Sports Complex.

In addition to the crown, Diem, a student from the Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Trade University, won a VND100 million (US$5,965) prize and a trip to Europe.

She may represent Vietnam at the 2009 Miss Tourism World.

The first and second runners-up were Nguyen Minh Ngoc Tram from Ben Tre Province and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao from Hai Phong City respectively.

Awards were also handed out for other categories including Miss Ao Dai, Miss Eloquence, Miss Congeniality and Miss Swimsuit.

The event, which started in March, was organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, A Chau Film & Communications, Saigontourist and Vietnam Airlines.
