More than us$ 55,000 for HIV/AIDS prevention in youth

In 2005, the Family Planning Association of the Republic of Korea continued its support of youth HIV/aids prevention in Vietnam through a donation of US$ 55,000 (together with US$ 20,000 in 2004).

The project, titled "Education is the best prevention for HIV/AIDS" has been implemented in Haiphong, DaNang and KhanhHoa provinces. The project aims to create a positive relationship between families, schools, and society; to educate children more clearly about prevention of HIV/AIDS; to improve the publicity capabilities of the Vietnam Family Planning Association, to delivering reproductive and sex health care services for students as well as providing support for groups with a high-risk of infection.

Several clubs for youth, peer educators, and HIV/AIDS sufferers have been established and hold monthly meetings and seminars, as well as supply free family magazines, video tapes and condoms to members. The project staff has also created an Advisory Center to conduct voluntary HIV/ AIDS tests and a website o­n family planning and reproductive healthcare. The Vietnamese and Korean Family Planning Associations recently held a training workshop in Hanoi to improve the quality of the projects for the beneficiaries
