Policy dialogue with members and ethnic minorities women by Nghe An Provincial Women's Union

The dialogue aims to bring opportunities for staffs, members and ethnic minority women to express their thoughts, expectations, and their suggestions or advices as well, for Women's Union at all levels to also have better understanding the local reality, therefore having more practical and effective activities and recommendations for women.

On April 1st, the Nghe An provincial WU organized a policy dialogue with members and ethnic minorities women at commune and village levels at Chau Hoi commune.

Attending the dialogue were Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hien - First Vice President of the Provincial WU; officers of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Justice, Quy Chau WU district and Chau Hoi commune, and the district Bank for Social Policy.

At the dialogue, 24 questions were raised by members, women and people, focusing on issues related to marriage and family; different policies on poverty elimiation for ethnic minority areas; for borrowers and women related to labor export, for women and malnourished children in difficult circumstances; for ethnic minority women in giving birth at local health stations, benefits of health insurance and procedures of health check...

Raised questions were thoroughly answered by representatives of departments and branches of Quy Chau district together with specific and clear solutions on the implementation of policies for socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas in general, policies and benefits for women and children in particular.

This dialogue helps party’s committees, authorities, relevant sectors and the WUs getting reflections of members and women, thus identifying appropriate solutions in socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas and particularly in supporting women and children, contributing to gender equality goals and solving a number of urgent issues for women and children. The Provincial WU and all levels will strengthen the supervision of policies implementation for women and children in ethnic minority areas to define shortcomings and promptly report them to the authorities; paying attention to support and create better conditions for ethnic minority women, staffs and members to improve their capacity, economic empowerement and building happy families as well.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hien - First Vice president of the Provincial WU also shared said that the provincial WU will to organize other 6 policy dialogues at commune and village in 3 districts (Thanh Chuong, Ky Son and Tuong Duong).
