Promoting cooperation between women of Vietnam and United Arab Emirates
At the meeting, UAE Ambassador Obaid Saeed Al Dhaheri expressed his impression of Vietnamese women’s and the VWU’s achievements over the past time.
He shared that currently female leaders in the UAE government account for 30%. Especially, women are involving in large corporations or areas that used to be male-dominated, such as oil and gas exploitation, mechanics, astronaut training, etc. The UAE has been implementing specific actions to enhance women’s empowerment in the country’s socio-economic development.

Ms. Ha Thi Nga expressed her sincere thanks for the Ambassador’s good impression and sentiments for Vietnamese people in general and women in particular. She also highly appreciated the UAE’s woman work, especially its high gender equality index and percentage of female leaders in politics.
Ms. Nga shared with the Ambassador that women’s representative in Vietnam National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels has increased compared to the previous term. Vietnamese government is making great efforts to provide legal frameworks on gender equality and promote gender mainstreaming in the National Target Programs. She also shared about VWU’s activities to promote women’s development in Vietnam, especially under the COVID 19 pandemic.

Regarding the upcoming activities, the UAE Ambassador hopes that the UAE women will have an exchange of delegation and learn from Vietnamese women's experiences, especially in the field of policy and law.
In response, Ms. Nga welcomed the UAE Ambassador's recommendation to facilitate the exchange and cooperation between the women of the two countries, and hope that the VWU will have opportunities to learn from and share experiences with the UAE women on gender equality & women's empowerment.
