Speak up when experiencing or witnessing gender-based violence

The Central Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) organized a media event in prevention and response to gender-based violence titled “Let's Join Hands and Make a Change Together" on November 25 in Hanoi. It is one of the activities to respond to Vietnam National Action Month on Gender Equality and Gender-based violence Prevention and Response 2023.

The event was attended about 600 delegates from ministries, agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, media, members, women, students, and people in Hanoi city.

VWU President Ha Thi Nga delivers a speech at event

At the event, VWU President Ha Thi Nga called on women and people nationwide to speak up when experiencing and witnessing violence, show respect for all genders, especially women and children, and stop prejudices and stereotypes on women’s responsibilities and duties. On behalf of the VWU, she also requested ministries, agencies and organizations at all levels to invest resources and join hands to prevent and respond to gender-based violence aiming to eliminate violence and abuse on women and children.

Participants commit to take actions to gender equality promotion and gender-based violence prevention

The action month this year witnessed the proactive response from the WU at all levels through numerous specific activities desiring to spread messages on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention to all strata of society.

300 members perform folk dance to respond to gender equality

aWithin the framework of the event, delegates participated in a bicycle parade through main streets of Hanoi to carry message of gender equality. An exhibition showcasing 3D symbols representing gender equality also displayed at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi at the same time, with content of gender equality, domestic violence, and gender-based violence and Vietnam's efforts in promoting gender equality and eliminating gender-based violence.
