United Democratic Tanzania’s Prime Minister’s spouse visits Vietnam Women’s Union

In the official visit to Vietnam by United Democratic Tanzania’s Prime Minister Edward Lowassa,

In September 5th, Mme Mama Regina E. Lowassa, spouse of U.D. Tanzania Prime Minister, visited VWU Head Office. Mme Ha Thi Khiet - member of Central Party Committee, President of VWU, Chairwomen of NCFAW, and members in VWU Presidium attended the meeting.

 

President Ha Thi Khiet expressed the warmest welcome greetings to the Mme Mama R. Lowassa. She introduced the historical development of VWU including its role, contribution, and achievements in the cause of the national construction and defense. Significantly, achievements of VWU have been recognized internationally in striving for gender equality, education, hunger alleviation and poverty reduction. VWU has completed the drafting of the Gender Equality Law to submit to the coming meeting of the National Assembly. The Gender Equality Law and the Law o­n Prevention against Domestic Violence o­nce approved will help enhance further Equality and Development goals for the Vietnamese women.

 

The spouse of Prime Minister highly appreciated VWU’s achievements and wished to cooperate, share experiences in fighting and defending women’s rights and interests in the cause of national construction as well as combating, preventing and driving back challenges faced by women in the two countries such as poverty, HIV/AIDS epidemic, gender inequality… She also expressed her pleasure to visit Vietnam and thank VWU for the warm welcome. o­n this occasion, Mme Mama R. Lowassa extends her invitation to Mme Ha Thi Khiet to visit Tanzania and her best regards to the Vietnamese women and people.

 

VWU’s President Ha Thi Khiet highlighted that Vietnam and Tanzania share a lot of similarities. The women in the two countries have been always attached to mutual understanding and sympathy and close sisterhood particularly in striving for women’s liberation. She thanked for the invitation and expressed her wish to further strengthening cooperation and friendship between women of the two countries for equality and sustainable development goals.
