Vientiane Women’s Union Delegation Visit Vietnam Women’s Union headquarters

VWU President Nguyen Thi Tuyen and representatives from the Central VWU Office and Hanoi Women’s Union welcomed the delegation. Providing a brief overview of recent activities, Ms. Vilaphanh shared that she was re-elected at the 9th Congress of the Vientiane Capital Women’s Union held in late April.
She highlighted the strong cooperation between the two unions under their 2022–2027 agreement and 2022–2025 MoU between Hanoi Capital WU and Vientiane Capital WU, which has been realized through practical activities like delegation exchanges and mutual support. This visit aims to learn about Hanoi WU’s grassroots initiatives and VWU’s recent structural adjustments.
VWU President Nguyen Thi Tuyen speaks at the meeting
President Tuyen praised the positive contributions of WU from both countries in strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. She noted that over the years, the two unions have actively carried out various joint activities, including signing cooperation agreements at both national and local levels - not only in border provinces but also in other regions such as Hanoi. She affirmed that Vietnam’s recent political restructuring aims to streamline the system for greater efficiency without affecting VWU’s functions or its cooperation with international partners, including the Laos Women’s Union.
She also shared key priorities of the VWU in the coming time, such as implementing national programs assigned by the government, contributing to policies on women and children, and celebrating major national events. In 2025, the VWU will focus on the theme: “Promoting women’s roles in building a strong, clean political system, ready for a new era.”. Additionally, the VWU will serve as Chairmanship of the ASEAN Confederation of Women’s Organizations (ACWO) for the 2025–2026 term and plans to hold soon its Executive Board Meeting online.
