Vietnam, Japan promote tourism cooperation

The Vietnam-Japan Joint Committee for Tourism Cooperation convened its first session in the resort city of Dalat, central highland Lam Dong Province, on December 9, 2005.

At the event, participants laid out a mechanism for the two countries’ tourism cooperation and finalised an action plan for a bilateral prospective tourism cooperation programme.

 

They also discussed measures to promote Dalat city’s tourist image in Japan in the two countries’ tourism cooperation programme.

 

They emphasised the necessity of promoting tourism via the two countries’ media and of setting up a Vietnamese tourist representative office in Japan.

 

Dr. Pham Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), and Co-chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Committee for Tourism Cooperation, said the number of Japanese visitors to Vietnam this year is estimated at 320,000, a rise of 28 percent over 2004.

 

The number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan rose 10 percent year o­n year, the VNAT official said.
