Women’s charity housing movement benefits thousands

The figure was released at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City o­n October 18 in response to the movement in the presence of Tong Thi Phong, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly, and Le Thanh Hai, member of Party Politburo and Secretary of HCM City Party Committee. 

VWU President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa said the movement is a practical action to uphold the national tradition “Love others like yourself” to help poor and disadvantaged women overcome difficulties and make a worthy contribution to the process of the national development. 

The union also took this opportunity to honour fellow members for their contribution to all aspects of social life such as healthcare, education, culture, sports and economy. 

This year, three units, namely female staffs from the National Library, the Thang Uyen Tea Company and the Women Cultural House in HCM City, and 10 individuals have received the award. 

The union has also granted scholarships to 10 university female students with best academic records.
