Working alongside the Vietnam Women's Union for gender equality and women’s development in Vietnam
On behalf of the Presidium, VWU leaders expressed their sincere thanks and high appreciation for their valuable contributions in supporting, sharing information, especially in promoting opportunities of cooperation for VWU international people-to-people relations, contributing to the significant achievements of women's movement and VWU activities.
On the occasion, leaders also shared VWU outstanding results during last term, namely: providing credit to nearly 5.4 million turns of poor women households; proposing with success of 119 policies, in which a number of important policies are for women; mobilizing international organizations’s financial and technical resources for its key activities...
Information of preparation activities for the 12th National Women Congress was also provided to participants by VWU leaders, especially the main focus of VWU orientations and tasks for the next term, in which international people - to - people relations is defined as one of the key tasks. In 2017, a number of important activities of international relations will be organized, such as: the Friendship Bus between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia Women; the 5th Vietnam - Korea Women's Forum; the APEC Women and the Economy 2017 Forum in Vietnam - a side event of the APEC Summit in Vietnam; activities for the Women's Innovation Day…

On behalf of awardees, Mr. Tran Dac Loi – First Deputy Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations – highly appreciated VWU contributions to international people - to - people relations, including the mobilization of international resources to support women in poverty alleviation, reproductive health care, gender equality and women's rights promotion. VWU international relations activities have been strengthened with diverse and effective cooperation and relationship which made remarkable contributions to the international people - to - people relations of the country. In the current global context, the role and position of women are being enhanced, VWU’s activities and Vietnamese women will help, as a result, to promote and affirm the image of a Vietnam of democracy, progress, equality and women respect. Mr. Tran Dac Loi and others expressed their commitment to keep working closely and supporting actively VWU in fulfilling its political tasks.

Sharing at the ceremony, experts from embassies and international organizations have shown their honor, attached sentiments and commitment to work alongside VWU activities. Ms. Cara Ellickson - Director, Gender Consortium, Flinders University, Australia, Senior Development Specialist - Gender & Disability Inclusion, Coffey International Development - was seen as an active person, working closely with VWU and its movements since 1999, said "Certificate of merits is a source of encouragement for me to work harder, contribute more so that I could bring the best things to Vietnamese women. I wish that more activities would be done by VWU to assist poor women, and those in rural and remote areas in the future".
With the same emotion, Mr. Joerg Teumer - specialist of the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation - Germany (SBFIC) - said: "Coming to Vietnam since 1984, having chance to travel to many regions, many villages and communes all over the country, I am deeply felt of women’s difficulties in rural areas but witnessed positive changes, progress in women’s status and role in family and society in Vietnam. I do hope that there will be more and more projects to support women in economic development".
