Workshop on strengthening the cooperation for women’s advancement of the two countries: Lao – Vietnam.

Participating at the workshop were 70 delegates who are members of Laos NCFAW, Vice-presidents of Provincial People’s Committee - Heads of Provincial Committees for the Advancement of Women (CFAW), Presidents of Provincial Women’s Unions and Deputy-Heads of CFAW and representatives of related Ministries/branches of Lao.
The 3-member Vietnamese delegation headed by Mme. Tran Thi Mai Huong, Permanent Secretary and Director of NCFAW Bureau of Vietnam attended this workshop. At this workshop, participants were introduced by the Vietnamese delegation the organizational structure and activities done by Vietnam NCFAW and the connection between it and the Vietnam Women’s Union; drafting and implementation of Plan of Action; incorporating the National Strategy for the Advancement of Women into the work of Ministry of Planning and Investment. on the side of Lao, representatives of Lao NCFAW represented their organization structure and activity and their approval of the draft of Strategy for the Advancement of Women in Lao (2006 – 2010). Participants also discussed and commented on the draft of Lao National Strategy and activities for the advancement of women.
On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Mme. Tran Thi Mai Huong highly appreciated the initiative of organizing the workshop on cooperation between the 2 countries and indicated that the draft of Lao National Strategy for the advancement of women was prepared carefully, comprehensively, concisely, especially it has included main principals into the strategy in line with the spirit of Beijing + 10 Conference.
