World Bank Country Director says farewell yet committed to continue supporting Vietnam

That is a promise of Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, World Bank (WB) Country Director for Vietnam during her courtesy visit to the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) on the occasion of completing her mission in Vietnam and assuming a new position in the U.S.

On the afternoon of 7th April 2016, Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, WB Country Director for Vietnam paid a courtesy visit to the VWU o­n the occasion of completing her mission in Vietnam and assuming a new position in the U.S this June. The VWU’s President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa warmly welcomed her.

At the meeting, Ms. Victoria Kwakwa highly appreciated the efforts of the VWU in general and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa in particular in promoting gender equality in Vietnam. The VWU has done a lot to promote women in leadership and in economic development. Particularly, VWU’s micro-finance activities have achieved very impressive results. She expected that in the coming time, the VWU would keep o­n its efforts for women’s development.

She affirmed that the WB will continue supporting the VWU. Despite changing her position, "I will always follow and support you" – said Ms. Victoria Kwakwa.Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa congratulated Ms. Victoria Kwakwa o­n her new position and highly appreciated her special attention to Vietnamese women during her mission in Vietnam.

VWU President believes that Ms. Victoria Kwakwa will fulfill successfully her responsibilities in her new position and look forward to her continuous support for VWU’s activities and women’s development.

Ms. Victoria Kwakwa is going to leave Vietnam for the U.S to take her new position as WB East Asia and Pacific Regional Vice President.
