• KEY ACTIVTIES OF VIETNAM WOMEN’S UNION IN 2010

    The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union has declared 2010 to be the year of active participation in the special emulations; improvement of the activity quality of the organization and effectively implementation of the VWU’s mandate of representing and protecting women’s legitimate rights. The key tasks and activities for the VWU in 2010 are:
  • Result of 2 years implementation of the VWU’s mobilization on “Building and Repairing Affection Houses”

    In 2004, Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) launched the Mobilization on “Building Affection Houses” to commemorate 50th Year of the Dien Bien Phu Victory with the aim that by 2010, there will be no families living in dilapidated or temporary houses. At the 3rd session (July, 2008) of VWU Executive Committee, VWU continued to promote the Mobilization on “Building Affection Houses” for poor women, single women and disabled women with especially difficult situations with the target that “There is every week getting one new house built for poor women - poor family”.
  • 50th anniversary of Ben Tre Concerted Uprising celebrated

    A grand ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ben Tre (Concerted Uprising) (January 17, 1960 – January 17, 2010) was held by the Ben Tre province’s People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front on January 17.

    VietNamNet Bridge – Trieu Thi Nai has been elected to the 9th National Assembly and returning to Congress and after three terms, sees great change. Meanwhile her family recently moved from Ha Giang to Hanoi but, as she told VietNamNet, she’s still getting used to the traffic.
  • Vietnamese women brighten landscape of Vietnam

    October 20 is observed annually as vietnamese women’s day to highlight their role and status in the struggle for the nation’s revolutionary cause as well as its Doi Moi (Renovation) process.
  • National Week on Vietnamese Women 2010 launched

    The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi on January 12 coordinated with the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council (VWEC) and the Central Vietnam Women’s Union to hold a press conference to launch the National Week on Vietnamese Women 2010.

  • Vietnam Women’s Union attends the 8th ACW Meeting and ACWO Board Meeting in Brunei Darussalam

    At the invitation of the Development Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam, as the President of the ASEAN Confederation of ASEAN Women’s Organizations (ACWO) 2008-2010, the Vietnam Women’s delegation headed by Mrs. H’Ngam Nie K’Dam, its Vice-president attended the 8th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Women titled “Reducing Feminization of women with a Right-based approach” and the ACWO Board Meeting in Brunei Darussalam during 2-4 Nov.2009.
  • Some news from the Gathering among the examplary presidents of local women’s unions

    On 13th Oct. 2009, 150 delegates who won the Awards of “Excellent local WU’s President” from all the 63 provinces/cities throughout the country had participated in the seminars in order to share their experiences on carrying out the women’s movement and 6 main tasks of the WUs at their local level.
  • Dong Thap Provincial Women’s Union: Exemplary Women Entrepreneurs Gathering

    On the occasion of 79th Anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union (20 October, 1930 – 20 October, 2009), on 19 October, 2009, Dong Thap Provincial Women’s Union organized a gathering of nearly 200 exemplary women entrepreneurs from the province.
