Vietnam Women's Union attends Performances for Vietnamese Community in Korea
At the invitation of Hampyeong county, Jeollanam district, Korea, the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) sent a delegation, led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, to attend the program "Performances for Vietnamese Community in Korea" from 23 - 27 October, 2013. -
VWU attends ACWO Board Meeting and Regional Workshop
As a member of the ASEAN Confederation of Women's Organizations (ACWO), VWU sent a delegation led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Thu Ha to the ACWO Board Meeting and Regional Workshop, held by ACWO Incumbent President - National Council of Women's Organizations, Malaysia (NCWO) - in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from October 30th to November 1st, 2013. -
VWU’s role in rural water and sanitation
In order to share experience and promote cooperation among Vietnamese and international agencies working on water and sanitation, on May 15th 2013 the Vietnam Women’s Union organized the workshop “The role of Vietnam Women’s Union in rural water and sanitation” chaired by the VWU First Vice-President Ms. Hoang Thi Ai Nhien. -
TYM Fund: 20 years – a journey of efforts and achievements
Formerly known as “the Affectionate Fund”, the Tinh Thuong Microfinance Institution (TYM) under the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) has been providing support to disadvantaged women for the last two decades. Setting an example as the first microfinance practitioner in Vietnam, TYM always operates with the noble social mission of improving living conditions and enhancing the social status of women in families and society. At the same time, TYM continuously engages in efforts to accomplish tasks assigned by the VWU. -

Women nationwide actively celebrating the 11th Vietnam National Women’s Congress
Besides active responses to the Special emulation program named “Building affection houses for for poor, single, disabled and difficult women and presenting scholarships to difficult students who are children of soldiers working in border the boundary, and islands areas with and achieve good studying results despite difficulties”, provincial Women’s Unions in the whole country have also organized diversified and practical activities to welcome celebrate the 11th National Women’s Congress. -

Credit Support Fund – new model in microfinance activities
Vietnam Women’s Union is a pioneer organization in Vietnam’s microfinance (MF). It all started from integrated credit projects carried out in the late 1980s. Up to now, WUs at all levels are managing over 350 programs/projects – mainly financed by NGOs with different social purposes – providing credit and saving services for women throughout the country to develop household economy. -

Recently, with the support of the Local Coordinating Board of the Program for Supporting Enterprise Sector, the Component 1, under the project of Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), Khanh Hoa provincial Women’s Union organized the training on “Gender issues in the small and medium businesses” for 140 participants from the local and provincial departments, agencies, mass organizations, managers, WU cadres and enterprises in the province. -

Recently, a delegation from the TYM Fund attended the workshop on combining health protection with microfinance activities which was organized in the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), in the Philippines. There were 20 participants of 9 microfinance organizations from Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. -

First I want to express my deepest appreciation to the Government of Vietnam for conferring the Friendship Medal. To both Ann and me, our work with our Vietnamese friends and colleagues during 16 visits to Vietnam, starting in 1978, has been tremendously stimulating and satisfying. Since the time of our youth, to us -- as to millions of others of our generation throughout the world -- Vietnam has been an example of great courage and achievement under the most difficult circumstances imaginable. -
