    One hundred percent of the Executive Committee members voted Ms. Ha Thi Nga, former Permanent Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, to be VWU President for the 2017-2022 term.

    On the morning of April 24, the Central Organizing Committee held a meeting to announce the Politburo’s decisions on personnel appointments of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, President of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) as a new Secretary of the Ninh Binh Party Committee.

    As an effort to respond to Covid-19, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) supported the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) necessities to help women in need of Hanoi.

    Vulnerable women’s sustainable access to hygiene and water is a key goal of the Project “Community Hygiene and Water - Women-led output-based aid” - Woba (Choba Project Phase 3) implemented by the Central Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) and the East meets West (EMW) in 5 provinces (Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Ben Tre) from 2018-2022 and funded by the Water for Women Fund under the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  • Vietnam Women’s Union joins efforts for COVID-19 prevention and control

    On the afternoon of 17 February, the VWU and FrieslandCampina Company (Dutch Lady Brand) presented handwash and milk products worth of VND 330 million to women living in Son Loi commune, Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province. The commune has been placed under quarantine after the diagnosis of several cases of Covid-19 virus there.
  • All level Women’s Unions constantly support women in business start-up

    The business start-up of women has been challenging. In the past years, implementing the Program "Supporting women business start-up in 2017-2025 period”, the Women's Union at all levels have supported constantly women overcoming barriers to do their business successfully.

    On the morning of January 3, 2020, at the National Assembly's Office, Vietnam Women's Union in coordination with Vietnam National Assembly’s Delegation in charge of supervising "the implementation of policies and laws on the prevention and control of child abuse" and the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child’s Rights organizes a Workshop on "Prevention of violence and sexual abuse against child in the family".
  • Collection of 1 million signatures to nominate Áo dài to be recognized as National Heritage launched

    At the Spring Celebration “Áo dài and Flowers” held at the Vietnam Women’s Museum on the evening of January 17th, 2020, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) launched the collection of 1 million signatures to nominate Áo dài to be recognized as a National Heritage by signing a pair of special Áo dài.
  • Space for women with disabilities to join creative startup

    Recently the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) launched the 2020 Contest "Creative Women Entrepreneurs - Successful Connection" to support and help realize startup ideas and projects with priority given to poor women, women with disabilities, women from ethnic minority and disadvantaged areas.

    On August 23, 2019, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) signed the Record of Discussions (ROD) of the project “Strengthening Vietnamese Capacity for Sustainable Reintegration of Returning Women Migrants and Their Households in Vulnerable Conditions in Vietnam” (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”).

    43 out of 63 provinces and cities have been in coordination with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop and conduct the plan of implementing joint program with various contents.

  • Vietnam National Women’s Congress XII successfully concluded

    From March 7 to 9, 2017, the 12th Vietnam National Women’s Congress was convened in Hanoi under the theme “Solidarity, Renovation, Equality and Integration”. Being a significant event in the socio-political life of the country and a mass festival of the Vietnamese women, the Congress drew a great attention throughout the country. The opening session of the Congress was broadcast live on several major TV and radio channels.

    Formerly known as “the Affectionate Fund”, the Tinh Thuong Microfinance Institution (TYM) under the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) has been providing support to disadvantaged women for the last two decades. Setting an example as the first microfinance practitioner in Vietnam, TYM always operates with the noble social mission of improving living conditions and enhancing the social status of women in families and society.
