“Happy Crescent Moon” honoring exemplary disabled couples

On the evening of October 11, in Hanoi, the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVHO), the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and The Vietnam National Assembly Television jointly organized the 4th "Happiness for disabled couple" with the theme of “Happy Crescent Moon”. The program took place in a warm and emotional atmosphere, aiming to honor the love and marriage of couples with disabilities.

Attending the program were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilization; Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh, PCC Alternate Member, VWU Vice President; Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam, ASVHO Chairman, and leaders of relevant departments and agencies.

The 4th program was especially attended by 35 exemplary disabled couples from 33 provinces and cities across the country.

The organizers had awarded certificates of merit and gifts to exemplary disabled couples for their achievements in overcoming difficulties and keeping their families happy.

In particular, the participants had the opportunity to interact with impressive and emotional couples such as Mr. Doan Ngoc Bao and Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thu. They are a disabled couple facing many difficulties but have built a happy family together. Mr. Bao used to be a skier, representing Vietnam to attend the Winter Olympics in Korea in 2015. Ms. Thu was in the Top 10 of the Crescent Moon Beauty Contest 2019.

Upon the sharing of disabled couples, Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh, PCC Alternate Member, VWU Vice President, expressed admiration, pride and respect for those very simple but precious feelings. As an organization representing women, taking care of and protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese women of all strata, especially vulnerable groups, she affirmed that the VWU would always accompany and support women in capacity building, contributing to developing Vietnamese women in the new era.
