Central Vietnam Women’s Union pays a visit and gives compliments to the Former Vice-President, Nguyen Thi Binh, on the occasion of her 80th birthday

On the occasion of the 80th birthday of Former Vice - President Nguyen Thi Binh (26/5/1927-26/5/2006), leaders of VWU visited and offered flowers to wish her a happy birthday.

On the behalf of the party committee, the Presidium of the Central VWU, Mme Ha Thi Khiet, members of Party Central Committee, VWU’s President, President of the National Committee for the Advancement of Women in Vietnam, offered good health to the Former Vice-President, showing acknowledgment for her great merit and contributions to mutual achievement of the country, as well as VWU’s activities and movements of women from all over the country. Mme Ha Thi Khiet praised Former Vice-President with her deep experiences and will continue to share and contribute ideas to further develop women’s movements.

 

In the cozy and open atmosphere, Mme Nguyen Thi Binh thanked the VWU and shared her deepest memories of her own life as a politician, particularly in the diplomatic area. She was the first women to become Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam and sign a peace agreement about Vietnam in 1973 in her capacity asthe Representative of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. In her own political life, Former Vice – President Nguyen Thi Binh also held many important positions, such as: member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training, Chairwomen of the National Assembly Foreign Relations Board and Deputy Chief of Commission for Foreign Relations of the Party Central Committee. Though elderly, she is very active in social activities, for instance: Chairwomen of Vietnam Development and Peace Fund, Chairwomen of The Vietnamese Children – Sponsoring Fund, Chairwomen of Kovalepxkai Award Committee…
