We are very happy to inform you that Vietnam Women’s Union will be the host of the 11th APEC Women Leaders’ Network (WLN) Meeting to be held in Hanoi from 19th – 22nd September, 2006. This is an exciting year as WLN will celebrate its 10th anniversary of foundation 1996-2006.
Like the previous meetings, this meeting will be an opportunity for WLN members to share and learn experiences for empowerment of women in general and women entrepreneurs in particular, thus strengthening the friendship and cooperation among women from the 21 APEC member economies. Furthermore, the meeting will help you to gainbetter insights on
In this spirit, we have defined the theme of this year’s meeting to be: “Towards a Dynamic Community – Enhancing the Competitiveness of Women Businesses for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”. The following are 3 tentative sub-themes:
Sub-theme 1: Women Entrepreneurs vs. Dynamic and Effective Economic Development
Subject 1:Enhancing ICT capacity and promoting Business Development Service (BDS) to support women entrepreneurs
Subject 2: Creating a business-enabling and gender-sensitive legal environment for women to develop business in the context of globalization
Sub-theme 2: Women Entrepreneurs and Sustainable Development
Subject 1:Promoting women-owned Micro Enterprises (ME) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) – an effective measure for poverty eradication and sustainable development
Subject 2:Women entrepreneurs coping with social and environmental issues
Sub-theme 3: WLN the 2nd decade: Where do we go from here?
Subject 1:Capacity and networking development of WLN
Subject2: Identifying priority concerns of WLN to better influence the APEC agenda
We expect approximately 200 international delegates from 20 APEC member economies (about 10 members each economy) and another 200 Vietnamese delegates will participate in this meeting.
