Twelve elderly people honoured with folk artisan title
The total number of elderly people who have received the "folk artisan" title so far totals 48.
The association also issued annual awards to 53 research projects on folk culture, customs, traditional craft villages and gastronomy.
Two of the research projects receiving awards were on the topics of folk culture in southern Bac Lieu province and Vietnamese proverbs.
Speaking at the award ceremony on January 11, Prof. To Ngoc Thanh, who is also President of the association, praised the works that collect Vietnamese cultural heritage. They included irrigation experiences of northwestern ethnic minorities and the central highlands' gong culture, which are highly valued by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), he noted.
