Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) received the Norwegian working group on partnership between Vietnam and Norway for gender equality

The working group which was headed by Mrs. Arni Hole, Director General of Family Affairs and Equality Department, Ministry of Children and Equality of Norway consists of 5 specialists with high professional knowledge o­n gender equality

During the past years, Norway has had many experiences in the field of gender equality and included gender equality as o­ne of 5 key issues in its foreign policies.

In April of 2008, a Norwegian working group o­n partnership for gender equality and human trafficking visited Vietnam and had many meetings with different partners in Vietnam. This time, the working group concentrated o­n the assessment of the current situation of gender equality in Vietnam and search for fields of future cooperation.

At the meeting, two sides shared experiences as well as difficulties and challenges in promoting and implementing gender equality and proposed measures, activities need to be cooperated and done by related partners.
