Bronze for Vietnam at Asian Track and Field Grand Prix

A Vietnamese track athlete Monday raced to a bronze medal in the women’s 200m event at the 2006 Asian Grand Prix circuit in Bangalore, India, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported Wednesday.

Vu Thi Huong finished the 200m in 24:36 seconds, behind Guzel Khubbieva (Uzbekistan) and Juthamas Tawoncharoen (Thailand).

This is the second medal for the Vietnamese team at the three-leg tourney after Nguyen Duy Bang had secured a silver for men’s high jump at the opening leg in Bangkok on May 18.

Bang cleared 2.18m in Bangkok, but an injury meant the best she could do was 2.05m in India.

The third leg is scheduled to take place next Friday, May 26 in Pune, India.

Vietnam sent six athletes to partake in the three-leg track and field event.
